This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why it is collected, and what happens to it. It is written in plain English rather than legal language, so that it is genuinely useful.
This website is owned and run by me, Madonna King — journalist, author and speaker, based in Brisbane, Queensland. There is no larger organisation behind it: when you send an enquiry through this site, it comes to me.

I only collect information that you choose to type into a form on this site. There is no account area, no login, and no comments section, so there is nothing collected in the background about who you are.
If you send a general enquiry, I collect your name, your organisation (if you give one), your email address, your phone number (if you give one), and your message. I use this to read and reply to you.
If you enquire about booking me to speak, I collect your name and contact details, the organisation or bureau you are enquiring on behalf of, and the details of the event itself — such as the name, dates, format, location, audience, the topic you are interested in, and any indication of budget you choose to share. I use this to check availability, hold a date, and give you a clear quote.
If you subscribe to the newsletter, I collect your email address, and use it only to send you the newsletter. Every newsletter includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also simply email me and ask to be removed.
Form submissions are emailed to me and are also stored in this website’s database so that I do not lose your enquiry. Please only include what you are comfortable sharing — a booking enquiry does not require any sensitive personal information.
This site sets only the small number of cookies needed for it to work properly — for example, to help the forms function correctly and to support the security and performance features provided by my web host. Because there is no login or comments section, no account cookies are set, and I do not use advertising cookies.
Some pages may include embedded content, such as a video. Embedded content from another website behaves exactly as though you had visited that website directly: that site may collect information about you, set its own cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content. Those websites have their own privacy policies, which apply to that content.
I do not sell, trade or rent your information to anyone.
Your information is only shared where it is necessary to run this website or to answer you:
Enquiries and booking requests are kept for as long as I need them to respond and to keep a reasonable record of work discussed or delivered. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. If you would like something removed sooner, just ask.
You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it if it is wrong, or ask me to delete it. Email hello@madonnaking.com.au and I will action it. In some cases I may need to keep limited records — for example, where a booking has gone ahead and business records are required.
This website, its database and my email are provided by third-party service providers, and your information is stored on their systems. Some of those providers may store or process data on servers outside Australia.
